Animation Summer School

Aims

Limerick School of Art and Design, LIT, is delighted to offer an intensive two-week summer school in basic animation. This introductory course is designed for students who are interested in pursuing animation professionally or as a hobby. It will be of benefit to those interested in further study of animation at 3rd level. This can include beginners, secondary school students wishing to apply for Art College in the future, mature students or students who already have some knowledge of animation but wish to extend their understanding of the subject.

Areas covered on the programme will include:

  • 12 Principles of Animation
  • Life Drawing
  • Flip Books, Zoetropes, Thaumatropes
  • Scriptwriting and Storyboarding
  • Character Design, Turnarounds, Model Sheets
  • Puppet Building
  • Introduction to a variety of Animation Types, including Stopmotion

Entry Requirement

There are no formal academic entry requirements. This programme is specifically designed for those with an interest in pursuing animation professionally or as a hobby. Participants must be 16 years old minimum.

Dates & Duration

The course will run for a duration of two weeks, from Monday 9th July to Friday 20th July 2018 (Monday through Friday inclusive each week). The course will run from 10.00am to 3.00pm daily.

Qualification

An LIT Certificate of Completion will be issued to eligible participants.
